The dispute is yours. So should the solution be.
Litigation hands the outcome of a dispute to a third party and the timetable to a crowded docket. Mediation returns both to the parties. In a structured dialogue guided by a neutral mediator, the parties explore their real interests — commercial, personal, reputational — and design a solution that a court could never order: revised payment schedules, continued business relationships, apologies, future contracts, confidentiality. The process is faster and far more economical than litigation, and because the parties author the outcome themselves, compliance follows naturally.
Mediation is particularly powerful where the relationship matters as much as the money — between business partners, family members in commercial disputes, suppliers and buyers, landlords and tenants, employers and employees. A judgment ends a case; a mediated settlement often saves the relationship.
Institutional mediation, professionally administered
DAC is not only renowned for arbitration — it is equally committed to institutional mediation as a first recourse in dispute resolution. Parties come to a neutral institution, a trained mediator, a structured process and a professional administration that removes every logistical burden from their shoulders:

Mediation now stands on statute
Mediation in India is no longer an informal alternative — it is a statutory process with statutory teeth:
India's dedicated mediation statute recognises institutional mediation, protects confidentiality, and gives a duly executed mediated settlement agreement binding force and enforceability — transforming the settlement from a mere contract into a conclusive instrument.
The Centre's own Rules govern initiation, appointment of the mediator, conduct of sessions, confidentiality, timelines and the recording of settlement — giving the process institutional structure from first notice to final signature.
Dialogue with structure. Confidentiality with protection. Settlement with the force of law. That is institutional mediation at DAC.
